I’ve been involved in the building and construction industry for more than 20 years, but my passion for quality craftsmanship started much earlier. After leaving school, I began my career completing an upholstery apprenticeship in my father’s upholstery and designer furniture business in Cambridge. It was there I developed a real appreciation for attention to detail and creating something that would stand the test of time.
That passion led me into carpentry, where I completed my apprenticeship with some of Cambridge’s well-known and highly respected builders. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work on architecturally designed homes, renovations and commercial projects throughout New Zealand, Canada and the USA. In 2012, my wife Amanda and I established Tunley Construction, a family-owned building company based in Cambridge, and I’ve enjoyed helping clients bring their ideas to life ever since.
What I enjoy most about the building industry is seeing a project evolve from an idea on paper into a finished home. Every build is different, and I enjoy working with clients throughout the journey, solving problems, paying attention to the finer details and delivering a home they can be proud of. I believe honest communication, trust and quality workmanship are the foundations of every successful build.
Outside of work
Outside of work, family is a big part of my life. Amanda and I love living and working in the Waikato region, and we enjoy spending time with family and friends whenever we can. I’m happiest outdoors—whether that’s snowboarding, wakeboarding, playing a round of golf, or anything to do with the water. I enjoy making the most of everything New Zealand has to offer.
