Nestled on a quiet street in Christchurch, New Zealand, this stunning family home is the result of a deeply personal collaboration between local makeup artist and content creator Kasia Stanicich, her partner, and her parents.

Drawing on a lifetime of inspiration—and guided by her father’s expertise as a builder—Kasia has crafted a residence that perfectly balances understated elegance with organic, natural textures. The home is a thoughtful nod to her roots near the river “red zone,” blending seamlessly into the neighborhood while maintaining a unique, character-filled identity.

The interior serves as a study in “soft minimalism,” where the focus shifts from bold colors to rich movement and tactile depth. Throughout the home, you’ll find a sophisticated interplay of materials: warm walnut cabinetry and creamy marble are elevated by a curated selection of ABI Interiors hardware. While Brushed Brass adds a golden glow to the laundry and bathrooms, Brushed Gunmetal was chosen for the kitchen to provide a modern, grounded contrast that complements the home’s larger appliances without overpowering the delicate joinery.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the home was designed for a bespoke lifestyle. From a dedicated home studio to the expansive Vari Sink that eliminates the need for cluttered drying racks, every decision was made with functionality in mind. Kasia’s journey highlights the power of trust and preparation; by carrying material samples at all times and leaning on the expertise of her contractors, she has created a space that isn’t just a house, but a functional, unique reflection of the family who built it.
